My name is Erin and I am a Capricorn. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in English, with a minor in Classical Studies, from Mizzou, and I am currently an English PhD student with an emphasis in 19th Century American literature. I love the Transcendentalists, and I have a major dead celebrity crush on Henry David Thoreau! I am interested in American Gothic literature, slave and abolitionist narratives, and, more than anything, the spiritual and nature writing of the Transcendentalists. I think about trees more than the average person, and am deeply interested in literature’s response to the evolving landscape of 19th C America, from the rise of industrialization, to the Civil War, and into Reconstruction.I am a knitter, a reader, a writer, a lapsed musician, and a moderately decent practitioner of yoga. I drink my coffee black and my tea green, I prefer cats over dogs, I never eat anything that has a mother and a face, and I can often be found hugging trees or dancing under a full moon.
I look forward to lending my skills to anyone who needs my help in the Writing Center!
